Enemy Territory: Quake Wars Review by SimonSaysDie

ET:QW is primarily a massive multiplyer game with elements of the Quake games.  It is played like an fps with a class system and upgrades for each class.  I played it for the Xbox 360 and we'll find out how it all held up.

The story of Quake Wars.  The story barely deserves a paragraph but here it is.  Basically the Strogg a group of aliens are looking for something to save their species and they crush all in their path.  Unluckily for Earth they happen to be in that path and are immedietly under siege and must fight back to keep control of their planet.  To do this the GDF ( I'm guessing Global Defense Force ) do a series of attack missions and defence missions to overcome the Strogg and take back the planet.  These missions take place in Africa, North America, North Europe, and the Pacific.  In each area three missions are done to repel the Strogg and then they move on to another area.  The biggest problem with the story though is that there is no ending, you just finish the missions and then you can replay them.  Maybe they're waiting until Quake 5 I don't know but for now there is no ending. The gameplay of the game.  The gameplay is basically one side is attacking and trying to complete objectives the other side is defending and trying to stop the attackers.  There are usuall 3-4 objectives to complete to win and the matches time limit can range from ten to thirty minutes.  There is also a class system to make the game more interesting and complex.  There are soldiers, medics, engineers, covert ops, and field ops.  (Continued below).

Each class obviously has its own specail abilities and weapons.  Soldiers can plant explosives and use heavy weapons, medics can heal and revive people, engineers can build and repair things, covert ops can use disguises and use sniper rifles, and field ops can call in a variety of airstrikes.  Each class has three levels that upgrade their stats.  While there are classes when you're not using the abilities it play just like a normal fps and there aren't big advantages over each other.  There are also vehicles in the game.  There is one heavy per side and a few light and medium as well.  The driving itself however is a little stiff and the turning is difficult.

The biggest problem I saw was that there is almost no skill involved because the auto-aim is just way to good.  It's almost always whoever shoots first will win the firefight.  Another thing is the objectives lack creativity, they use the same objectives over and over again.  Some examples are driving the MCP, hacking the computer or shield generator , blowing up the gates, or building something.  However the objectives are still a challenge and keep the action going throughout the game.  The best thing about the game is its high-paced action which is almost always present.  There are sometimes some glitches with medics being unable to revive people and soldiers being unable to finish planting a charge but those are rare and barely hinder the gameplay.

The multiplayer is the same as campaign but with people.  There is the normal objective mode where you simply have to try to finish the objective to win.  Then there is stopwatch mode where you and the other team take turns being the attackers and the team with the best time wins.  There is also campaign which is playing campaign, go figure!  The multiplayer is rarely laggy or slow and is much more challenging than campaign.  That's about all there is to it

The graphics of the game.  The graphics were overall pretty average and you know what that's okay ,ecause the game has a lot going on so the graphics can't be too good or it will be slowed down.  There are some character animation glitches where their legs stop moving and they appear to be sliding around .  Other than that the graphics were fine and the enviroments nicely detailed.

The sound of the game done pretty well the airstrikes and explosions were great.  The vehicles had good sound effects too.  The guns sounded a little weird but other than all in good shape.  Overall the game was average and not worth more than a rent. Comments.
